Book Cases

A bookcase, which is also known as a bookshelf is a kind of furniture that the basic functionality of storing and housing books. Bookcases generally provide protection for books as well as allow easy accessibility for readers especially when there are a considerable number of books in the collection. Before the advent of cheap books, manuscripts were only owned by the wealthy and of those in the religious orders, which were stored in cupboards or shelves. Later on when books were common and accessible to almost anyone, the cupboards lost their doors, and thus the birth of a new kind of furniture – the bookshelf. If you have gone to the library before then you should have already observed a lot of bookshelves of different sizes. Although the use of books has declined outside the academic system due to the advent of electronic books or other computer software that mimics or duplicates the functionality of a book, books are still here to stay, and it will still be years (which also may not come at all) before it becomes a thing in  the museums. And because books are still commonly used, bookcases too will be staying as one of the most common furniture used at the office or at home.
